Privacy Protections on Probate Cases

Illinois protects reports in guardianship cases, and allows for a closed guardianship hearing if requested.

Reports in guardianship cases are considered confidential and may only be accessed by the parties and their counsel, the courts, the guardian, and others that the court may designate to access the information. The guardianship hearing may be closed to the public upon request by the protected person, counsel, or the guardian ad litem.
