Privacy Protections on Probate Cases
D.C. allows un-redacted information to be accessible to the public.
Information that is not redacted will be accessible to the public. Additionally, the court may order that a filing be made under seal without redaction; such filings would not be accessible to the public. The court may later unseal the filing or order the person who made the filing to file a redacted version for the public record.
A person waives these protections as to his or her own information by filing it without redaction and not under seal.
