Privacy Protections on Probate Cases

The following information is public:

(1) a record of the names and addresses of the minor, ward, and guardian or conservator and their legal counsel of record and
(2) the dates of filing, granting, terminating, transferring, and accepting the guardianship or conservatorship.

Georgia may also provide interested parties access to confidential information through a court order.

A request by interested parties to examine the sealed records must file a petition to the court. The court may allow such access if it finds that the public interest in doing so clearly outweighs the harm to the privacy of the person in interest.
