Privacy Protections on Probate Cases

All information not labeled as “confidential” is accessible by the public, and information labeled as “confidential” is accessible through written consent or a court order.

All records in guardianship cases that are not labeled as confidential or that are not sealed are available to the public. Confidential information may be available to the public if the parties, in writing, allow the public to have access. Otherwise, a person who wants access to confidential information must petition the court and show good cause.
